She asks too many questions and doesn't take no for an answer, threatening to destroy the peace and balance that Carter has been working towards. She thwarts every attempt Carter makes to retreat back inside himself, somehow bringing him closer to being whole again.
Summer has secrets of her own, but she never planned to open up to anyone - let alone the scowling, secretive farm owner whose story she's after. But as she gets drawn into the community, she starts to realize that she can't stay closed off forever.
And what's more, she doesn't want to.
As Carter and Summer grow closer, will they be able to push past the secrets that are holding both of them back?
After reading Bittersweet by Sarina Bowen, I feel like reading hot farmers. And I found this book on the Goodreads wall.
Carter Pierce is the eldest of the Pierce brothers in Blue Moon Bend, N.Y. After his retirement from being in the military, he found his peace in running his family's farm organic farm. He is a sexy vegetarian (I know, impossible, but read the book to learn how he was converted to become a vegetarian) Ex-Army Ranger with scars from his last mission.
Summer Lentz is a aspiring junior editor of Indugence magazine. A workaholic city girl that doesn't even know the word "day off".
Summer travels to Blue Moon Bend to do an interview and write a piece on Pierce Acres, a family-owned organic farm by the sexy Carter Pierce. Even though Summer is a city girl through and through, she falls in love with the farm, the town of well-meaning hippy weirdos, Carter and his family. She fell in love to this small town and seeing people helping each other in time of their needs. She fell in love with the farm animals and just being hands-on, getting dirty harvesting vegetables. She loves Carter's loud family and just everything in Blue Moon Bend even the medding committee who tries to push her and Carter.
This book is super sweet, low angst, sexy and humurous to read with gread secondary characters. As Carter and Summer's relationship gets deeper and Summer is going back to the city, they plan on meeting half-way just to be together, but it seems that it isn't enough anymore. The ambition to be a senior editor, the beautiful view of Summer's apartment, doesn't appeal to her anymore. But there is something that also held her back to pursue her feelings for Carter. Her personal secret, her fears.
Carter grew up in a close-tight family. He is close with his brothers and mother. After what he has been through he never thought he will have what he have with Summer. Never thought that he will feel this connection, this longing. And though he is open to Summer regarding his story, his fighting battle with PTSD, Summer is hesitant to open up about her situation because it might be the reason he will leave her. But eventually she made a decision she thought is right for Carter.
But when the magazine released the story of the Pierce Acres and it was different from what she wrote, she was mad. She left the company and posted the words she wrote about the farm on her blog along with her story. Her secret.
Carter is so sure of her feelings for Summer. He knew that she is afraid of something. Knew that she will come back. But as soon as Carter knew everything - from the blog, of course - he made his move and get what was his.
This is a really humorous and sweet read. Not so steamy but there are a few explicit sexy scenes. All the characters are brilliant. I like the pace of the story, the relationship development of Carter and Summer and even Clementine - the jean eating goat. It had what I want to read - about love, friendship, laughs, and of course HEA.

Lucy grew up in rural Pennsylvania with a lot of time on her hands and a big imagination. She was the oldest of three in a literary household. Dinners were often spent in silence while family members had their noses buried in books. A passion for writing took hold at five when she taught her brother to write his name on the bathroom door.
She started writing (on paper) in the second grade, first about pilgrims on the Mayflower and over the years graduated to essays, articles, blogs, and finally books.
Non-romance-writing jobs have included event planner, bartender, newspaper lackey, and yoga instructor.
Lucy and her boyfriend, Mr. Lucy, enjoy spending time with their ten nieces and nephews and are determined to learn to sail so they can live on a sailboat in the Caribbean someday.
