Cinderella never had to deal with this crap.

Jane isn't entirely sure that Cinderella got such a raw deal. Sure, she had a rough start, but didn't she eventually land a prince and a happily-ever-after? Meanwhile, Jane is busy waiting on her demanding, entitled sisters, running her cleaning business, and . . . yep, not a prince in sight. Until a party and a broken shoe incident leave Jane wondering if princes---or at least, a certain deliciously hunky billionaire---maybe do exist.

Except Brock Wellington isn't anyone's dream guy. Hell, a prince would never agree to be auctioned off in marriage to the highest bidder. Or act like an arrogant jerk---even if it was just a façade. Now, as Brock is waiting for the auction chopping block, he figures it's karmic retribution that he's tempted by a sexy, sassy woman he can't have. But while they can't have a fairy-tale ending, maybe they can indulge in a little bit of fantasy . .

This book is a fun and sweet read. There are definitely some similarities at some point to the old “Cinderella” story but this book is way more fun. I’m pretty sure Prince Charming is not as grumpy as Brock.

Brock Wellington is the oldest of the Wellington brothers. He was only 12 when they lost their parents in a tragic accident and since then they were taken cared by their grandfather. The day before his parent’s accident, his father and him  had a discussion and he said “NO”. Since then, he never said that word to his grandfather, afraid that something might happen if he will say it. So when his grandfather asks him to be auctioned as a PR to their company he can’t say no even if he really doesn’t feel like doing it.

Jane is the youngest of the sibs. Her parents died from cancer and she promised her father to keep the family close together. So even if her sisters are so bad, lazy and controlling, she tried to just ignore it to just be together. She took her father’s cleaning business and at the same time took care of her 2 “older” sisters who are lawyers by the way. Her sisters are ambitious. Getting all worked up from make-up to clothes to shoes and attending parties of the rich in order to mingle and of course hoping to catch some wealthy bachelors. Though this gig isn’t Jane’s, she’s dragged with her sister to “drive” them when they are too drunk – go figure. That is during that night when an incident happen then Jane was rescued by this handsome guy away from the peoples eyes. Unfortunately for her, she broke her shoes and torn her dress. And this guy offered to get her a new shoes. Struggling the keep her business afloat and a chance to get away from her sisters temporarily, Jane took the job to be an in-house cleaner/maid to a ranch house for the new tenants.

Brock now was forced by his grandfather to have a mini vacation until the auction day. Though he really doesn't want to be near that house because of the ghosts from his past, he doesn't have any choice but to do it to keep his grandfather happy. And what a surprise he got when he found out who was there in his house.

I love this book. This book is just beyond the "Cinderella" story. It is about family and moving on. Both Brock and Jane are sacrificing their wants, needs and happiness just to have their family intact. Unfortunately for Jane, her sisters are just plain and simple pain in the a**. While Brock's problem is not saying "NO" to his grandfather and 2 twin brothers who are making them the front page in every tabloids, his family is always there for him. His brothers were especially there helping him when he thought he can't have the girl he loves.

Towards the end of the story, I can totally feel the vibe of the Cinderalla. With all the surprises and transformation they are doing. But this time, the Prince Charming is not even looking for his Princess because he already knew who she is. And he is willing to do everything to have her and have their Happily Ever After!
