The New York Times bestselling author of Brash returns to the Triple C Ranch in River Black, Texas, for more cowboys, romance, and danger…
Ranch hand Blue Perez’s once simple life is spinning out of control. He’s discovered he has three half-brothers, and they’re not ready to accept his claim on the ranch. Also, Blue’s girlfriend may have betrayed him in the worst way possible. And after one evening of drowning his sorrows at the bar, there’s someone he can’t get out of his mind, a woman who says she’s carrying his child.
Following a night of breathtaking passion in the arms of the man she’s longed for all her life, waitress Emily Shiver is contemplating her next step. With everything that’s going on in Blue’s life, she doesn’t want to force him into fatherhood. Yet as hard hearted as he may seem, Blue can’t turn his back on her, particularly when she becomes the target of someone’s dark obsession....
As I was reading some reviews in this series, it seems that Brash has the highest review and I get it. But personally, I think this is my favorite book in this series.
Blue’s world turned upside down the day they read Everette Cavanaugh’s will. He was his father. A father he didn’t know until that day. He felt betrayed by Everette who he thought was just his boss and he looked up to but most of all, he felt betrayed by his mother. He found comfort online and met someone who he thought he fell for. Though they haven’t meet personally and didn’t share too much personal information, talking to this girl gives him comfort and outlet of all his mix emotions. That is until the day he found out who she is and what she have.
Emily has been harboring this long time “appreciation” for Blue. Working as a waitress at Bull’s Eye and trying to save up money to get that place she wanted for her flower shop. One unfortunate event pushed them together that turned into a night of passion and changes their lives forever.
It is a fast paced book but I love how the story rolls. With Blue’s emotions all over the place, Emily just wants to let him know that she is pregnant. Not really expecting him to step-up. But when he learned that he is going to be father, Blue is just anywhere where Emily is. He swears that his child will know his/her father is.
Blue realized that he cannot fully be himself and fully love Emily unless he lets go of his emotions. His relationship with his mother, with his best friend, Mac and even with his brothers. He realized that he can be open and vulnerable to Emily because she was different than Natalie, who lured and lied to him.
Though at first Emily thought that Blue was just there because of the baby, Blue proved her wrong. He wants to be there not just for the baby but to support Emily as well. He was present during her doctor’s appointment and was even present during the pregnancy announcement to Emily’s parents, though he was there uninvited.
I love all the small details and scenes in this book especially the ending. I love the involvement of their families especially Emily’s family. This series is all about forgiving, moving on, loving someone you love unconditionally and just being there with them through thick and thin.
What a way to end the series! Great read!
