Can a love built on secrets survive?Rugged, hot, and rock hard, Dred Zander is exactly the type of man that normally sends Pixie running. Not dreaming about running her hands down his washboard abs...and lower. The lead singer and guitarist for the band Preload embodies trouble behind his quick smile and guarded eyes, and Pixie left trouble behind her years ago along with the name Sarah Jane Travers and the pathetic trailer her mom called home. With her abusive past in her past, she has a new life, a new family at Second Circle, and a dream of opening her own business. She needs capital and time. What she doesn't need is a tempting long-haired rocker or the paparazzi that follow him around. But Dred has other ideas. Pixie's sweet hazel eyes, purple hair and kaleidoscopic tattoo of exotic flowers that swirl up her arm haunt his dreams, and he knows she wants him too. He just has to convince her. But as a juicy exposé threatens to expose their pasts, and a blackmailer terrorizes their present, Pixie and Dred have to decide what really matters and fight like hell to keep it.
I love this series! The Purest Hook is such a sweet and heartbreaking story.
Dred is the vocalist the well-known international band Preload. Though in the surface and in eyes of their fans they are perfect as band with perfect hot bod and and beautiful face attached to it, Dred and his brothers have been through a lot. A mother who OD’d more than he can count, he despises drugs. He hates it.
Pixie is the manager of the tattoo parlor Second Circle. Saved by Trent and Cujo the day they found her sleeping outside the shop, she owed them her life. Been sober for 6 yrs from being addicted to drugs that she didn’t want to take in the first place. Pixie is a survivor from an abuse physically and emotionally.
They meet through Trent who is a co-judge with Dred in that tattoo show. At first, every time Dred asked her if when can they go on a date, Pixie always replies with a witty and impossible answer. But when Dred was sick, it was Pixie who took care of him and told him, she’ll go on a date with him when he gets better.
Reading this book and Pixie’s story was heartbreaking. How she had lived all those years under the roof of her abusive step-father. How she was treated and forced to take those drugs just to live and get through what her step-father was saying or asking her to do. She carried this burden of killing somebody who is about to take what’s the only thing that is left to her. She was broken and Trent and Cujo helped her to where she is now.
I understand how Dred react when he finally knew that Pixie was an addict but I kinda don’t like him a little bit when he just took off and not even let her explain. I really admire Trent and Cujo being with her and standing beside her.
When they were finally together, Pixie and Dred’s story is just beautiful. They tackle all their problems together and with their families (Dred’s brothers and Pixie’s Second Circle Family). I really enjoy reading this book!
