Drea is working as a manager in José’s. She has been taking her of her ungrateful mother since she was 17. Trying to make ends meet, she is working 2 jobs. Drea is used being independent and trying to do everything until there’ll be no option left. She took care of everything in the household, from food, house bills to medical bills. She never thought about herself.
Cujo being abandoned by his mother at a young age have this different view about relationship. As a cancer survivor and have been through a lot in his teen years, he have this thought that whatever he is lacking, might not be enough for the woman to stick and she’ll eventually leave him. Having fear being abandoned, he guarded his heart and just playing the field.
Since their best friends was engage, these two were thrown together to plan an engagement party. Drea being a sole provider in her family is so fed up that it seems that she is mad at the world. Eventually as these two has been hanging out, Cujo saw the rare side of Drea that he really likes and he can’t ignore their chemistry.
That night when they were held at gun point, made them rely on each other. Though there were still times that they fought like dogs and cats, but after what they’ve both experience, they are still for each other. And it made them realize that they can’t ignore anymore what they have. Thrown in their situation the re-appearance of Cujo’s mom made Cujo question everything and what-ifs.
Drea and Cujo’s are meant for each other. Cujo likes taking care of her. Not just her and just taking care with somebody. His family, his nieces. While Drea is not used in asking help. Though Cujo’s mom left when they were young, he still have his Dad and his brothers. Drea is left with her mom, who is ungrateful for what she have done. Complaining about this and complaining about that.
I think this book is beyond the romance and suspense. It is about forgiveness, family and second-chances. It is about understanding and being there for your loved ones.
